Carolina Hurricanes Unveil New Uniforms, Introduce 'New Storm' In NHL (PHOTOS)

The Carolina Hurricanes introduced their new, redesigned uniforms for the upcoming 2013-14 season. It is the first time in their 15-year history that the team has made "head-to-toe" changes, the team website reports.

The team's main logo and primary colors of red and white remain, but the new uniforms feature a sleeker, more polished look.

"The process of making these changes began several years ago," Rutherford said. "We are pleased with the results, and proud that our team was able to design the new look internally. Doug Warf's staff including Ben Aycock, Andrew Roman and Lauren Baxter devoted a lot of time and energy to this process, taking input from our hockey department to create uniforms that our players love, and our fans will hopefully enjoy as well."

The new sweaters are expected to go on sale for fans beginning in September, and season ticket holders have the benefit of purchasing the new apparel before it goes on sale to the general public.

Carolina, anchored by star captain Eric Staal, hasn't qualified for the playoffs since losing in the conference finals during the 2008-09 season. They finished third in their division at 19-24 and 42 points.
