Radio and TV personality Adam Carolla returns to catch more bad contractors in Season 2 of Spike TV's original reality show "Catch a Contractor" tonight (Oct. 5). Unlike last season, however, this time the show will be extended to a one-hour format going forward, as opposed to last season's half-hour format. The 10-episode new season was ordered and announced by Spike in April 2014.
As the name suggests, the show sees Carolla and licensed contractor Skip Bedell meeting homeowners who were betrayed by their contractors and left with hazardous living conditions, bringing the bad contractors back to confront the homeowners and ultimately giving the contractors three choices: come back and finish the job correctly under Carolla and Bedell's supervision (along some occasional jokes at their expense); give the homeowners their money back; or get taken to civil court for damages while the show repairs and completes the renovations to the homes. Nine times out of 10, or in the case of the first season, 10 times out of 11, the contractor agrees to return to finish the original job with criticism, guidance and help from Carolla and Bedell.
To date, only one contractor has refused to come back, and was supposedly taken to court over it, although in one instance, one of the families seemed to be telling less than the full truth about their experience with their contractor, which shows that the contractor is not always to blame for problems described on the show.
"Catch a Contractor" debuted Sunday, March 9, 2014, and after seven original broadcasts, averaged 1.2 million viewers. The premiere episode was the most-watched Spike original series debut since 2011, according to Spike's official blog.
