Indonesia Suitcase Murder: Mom Allegedly Used N-Word Before Killed

New allegations arose in the investigation where a Chicago woman's body was found stuffed in a suitcase in Indonesia discovered in August.

Heather Mack, 19, told police her mother Sheila von Wiese-Mack, 62, used the N-word against alleged killer Tommy Schaefer, 21 before he attacked, reports The Associated Press.

Schaefer, who is black, is Mack's boyfriend and they are both suspects in the case.

Von Wiese-Mack's husband is also black (she is white). However, when Schaefer brought up her husband's, James L. Mack, a highly regarded jazz and classical composer who died in 2006, race in his defense she allegedly added that he was rich, reports AP.

Mack, von Wiese-Mack and Schaefer were on vacation at a hotel in Indonesia when Schaefer attacked and killed her with the iron grip of a fruit bowl. He confessed to the murder last month, reports AP.

Video surveillance shows that Schaefer hid piece of iron from his room under his shirt, that appeared to be the grip of a fruit bowl provided by the hotel in his room, as he went to von Wiese-Mack's room, Capt. Nengah Sadiarta, police detective chief for Denpasar, Bali's capital, tells AP.

Mack and Schaefer left the hotel carrying a suitcase that had von Wiese-Mack's body inside. They were caught when hotel staff noticed spots of blood on the suitcase and instructed the taxi driver to bring them to the police station, AP reports.
