Smartphone fans concerned about buying a bending device should be happy to hear that Samsung guarantees that its upcoming Galaxy Note 4 phone will not bend.
A test was held to show the device will not bend while in the user's pocket by having a fake bottom sit on the phone, according to CNET. The bottom is designed to have the same force as someone who weighs 220 pounds, and it moves up and down on the phone while the device stays completely still.
Samsung says the note 4 is able to withstand this pressure because of reinforcement provided by its metal frame and magnesium bracket.
The "human weight test" and "three-point bend test" were held in response to recent complaints from owners of Apple's recently unveiled iPhone 6 about their new devices bending when it was in their pockets, The Daily Caller reported. This issue has led to concern among customers about similar devices from other companies having the same problem.
Samsung said certain objects, such as wallets, credit cards, forks, and unspecified smartphones, will bend in your pocket if you leave them in there long enough.
The testing follows a week after Consumer Reports held a similar test to see if Samsung's new phone will bend, CNET reported. The Note 4 passed that test and the new test results should provide relief for smartphone fans.
