Claire Danes' role in "Homeland" is a little different than previous films she has starred in, such as "Shopgirl," where she played an easily manipulated, love-struck girl. In the Showtime series, now in its fourth season, Danes plays Carrie Mathison, a fierce, bipolar CIA officer.
Season 4 picks up immediately where it left off, and it's a tangled web of plot lines.
(SPOILER ALERT) Nicholas Brody, the deceitful and powerful U.S. Marine Sergeant, has been killed - he was hanged in the season 3 finale. The new setting will be Afghanistan and Pakistan, and there will be more character additions to fill Brody's absence.
Will Carrie Mathison be able to fulfill her duties as a CIA officer in a foreign land with an unfamiliar governmental system? You decide. On top of her missions, Mathison is a new mother, and we will see that plot line unfold as well.
For any fans of politics, this is the perfect series for you. Watch as Mathison is really put to the test.
"Homeland" airs on Sunday, October 5 at 9 p.m. on Showtime.
"Arrow" is based on DC Comics character The Green Arrow, a superhero who uses a bow and arrow as his weapons of choice. The show features Oliver Queen - "Green Arrow," though he does not use that moniker - a billionaire crime fighter, who, at the end of season two, had transformed into a "full-blown hero."
Here is a synopsis for the season 3 premiere, as per Screen Rant:
"In the aftermath of this victory, Season 3 opens with Arrow now a hero to the citizens of Starling. Crime is down, people feel safer, and Captain Lance even calls off the Anti-Vigilante Task Force. Basking in his success, Oliver believes he can finally have a private life and asks Felicity out on a date. But the second Oliver takes his eye off the ball, a deadly villain reappears in Starling, forcing Oliver to realize that he can never be Oliver Queen - not as long as the city needs The Arrow."
Although the series is based mostly on action, there will be threads of romance woven into the plot. Oliver and Felicity just might share some on-screen affection.
Season 3 of "Arrow" will air on Wednesday, October 8 at 8/7c on The CW.
Calling all freaks! The highly anticipated "American Horror Story" is back to scare you to the core with "Freak Show's" terrifying and bizarre characters.
Season 4 takes place in Florida during the 1950s and introduces viewers to the "Freaks," who are all a part of the "Freak Show." However, town residents are not pleased with the presence of these performers, which sets the scene for a lot of conflict in the small town of Jupiter.
The beloved actors - Jessica Lange, Sarah Paulson, Evan Peters, Kathy Bates, Frances Conroy, Angela Bassett, Naomi Grossman and Emma Roberts - will portray dynamic, unusual roles that will keep you on the edge of your seat.
Show creator Ryan Murphy said that Twisty the Clown will be the scariest clown in existence, and may possibly be too scary for viewers. Like the residents of Jupiter, Twisty does not approve of the arrival of the Freak Show, and he will make that known.
"It's heart-stopping what he does. I'm worried. I'm worried that people are going to have cardiac arrests... The clown's intro in the first episode is... even I was terrified of it. It's brutal," he told BuzzFeed. Apparently, crew members had nightmares about the psychotic character.
Well, get a blanket ready to shield your eyes and a bowl of popcorn that (hopefully) doesn't end up on the floor.
"American Horror Story: Freak Show" premieres on Wednesday, October 8 at 10 p.m. on FX.
