Paul Reubens, better known as Pee-Wee Herman, will play a role for NBC's The Blacklist, according to TV Guide Magazine.
TV Guide reports that Reubens will play Mr. Vargas, a "fixer" for crime's underbelly. Reubens will appear in two episodes as Mr. Vargas. The first airs tonight Oct. 6 at 10/9c.
According to Yahoo, series creator Jon Bokenkamp told Entertainment Weekly, "We're forgoing the bow tie and the bicycle and it's going to be something totally different. It can't get strange enough for me."
The Blacklist stars James Spader as Raymond "Red" Reddington, an ex-government agent and F.B.I. fugitive who surrenders and works with the F.B.I. on crossing high-profile criminal names from his "blacklist." The Blacklist is in its second season and according to Deadline Hollywood, NetFlix purchased the right to stream the hit crime drama for $2 million per episode. Spader was nominated last year for a Golden Globe for his performance as "Red," according to imdb.
Zap2It reported that Spader told The Tonight Show, "[Season 1] was sort of setting the ground rules for the characters and their relationships, and then halfway through the season, sort of re-setting those ground rules. Then at the end of the season, everything blew up. The cast of characters are left in real disarray by the end of the first season. The second season of the show really has opened up, but because of the fact that the relationships have started to be formed and certain things from the past are coming in, all of the stakes have just been raised...The relationships stakes have been raised, when it gets dark, it's much darker, when it's funny, it's funnier. The stakes are higher."
Spin reported that Reubens recently played the part of "Racer Stevens" in the music video "Happy Idiot" by indie-rock band, TV on the Radio. The video was released on the website Funny or Die.
