"The Walking Dead" producers are reportedly casting for two new recurring characters for the upcoming fifth season. It's not clear when the newbies will be introduced but SpoilersGuide.com has the scoop on the characters. Check out the info below:
Donna, "50s-60s. A formidable, much respected and influential journalist that displays integrity, strength and occasionally wiseass humor. She's a leader, a mother, and someone who reads people very well."
Samantha, "female, early to late 30s. Attractive, strong, smart charming and articulate, she also has a vulnerable side. She's a mother with a bohemian spirit, and a talented artist."
So far, actors have not been cast in the roles. Entertainment Weekly also has some scoop on the premiere episode and an inside look at Season 5 from executive producer Gale Anne Hurd.
"The season premiere is a nail-biting, jaw-dropping, stomach-turning, fast-paced - shall I go on? - hour that will leave you on the edge of your seat. While I can't give too much away, I will say that the group prevents Rick from taking a certain action that could come back to haunt them later," EW writes after viewing the first episode. "What's scarier is that there's a particular scene from the trailer that didn't happen in the first episode and has me extremely nervous that the worst has yet to come."
Hurd also teased that there could be some conflict within the group, specifically involving Tara and Abraham.
"Tara, knowingly or unknowingly, was part of the Governor's group. That won't, I'm sure, sit too well with our survivors. Especially since Hershel lost his head as a result of the Governor. And Abraham is used to being a leader himself," Hurd said. "He has a goal, he doesn't want anyone to stand in his way, and he has a vision of how it needs to be carried out. And I don't see Rick being subservient to anyone. If he feels that a different approach is in the best interest of his core group, he's certainly, I think, very unlikely to defer to Abraham."
Season 5 of "The Walking Dead" returns Sunday, Oct. 12 on AMC.
