GoPro Cameras With Real-Time Broadcasting Now Available In Livestream Updates App (WATCH)

Livestream is looking to make GoPro cameras more exciting for risk-takers with an update that lets users broadcast what they do in real-time.

The update, released Monday on Livestream's iOS app, puts users in videos while they're surfing, jumping off cliffs, and skydiving, according to CNET. GoPro cameras are often put on surfboards, cars, bike helmets, and even the owners' bodies while they perform different tricks.

The new version of the app provides this experience by connecting the user's iPhone to the Wi-Fi network of the camera, and users can begin streaming videos live with a push of a button on the app.

GoPro did not directly participate in the app update's development. Max Haot, CEO of Livestream, said customers have sent the company hundreds of requests to add real-time broadcasting to GoPro, CNET reported.

"People try to hack it and live-stream GoPro to a computer, but obviously a computer is not an appropriate thing to carry in an action sport," he said.

Alejandra Soto, spokesperson for Livestream, said in an interview that GoPro owners only need connection to a 4G mobile network on their phones with the app, and their stunts can be seen live by anyone as the user does them.

She added that the update works with just about every GoPro camera, though whether or not it works with the GoPro Hero4 has yet to be confirmed. However, Livestream believes the update will be able to work with the Hero4.

"We tested it with 2, with 3, with 3+, etc." Soto said.

Owners will also be able to post snapshots to the feed since the app has support for live video filters, CNET reported. Chat functions can also be used when the owner is standing still as well as when he/she is engaged in different activities.

"People are watching on Livestream because they want to be connected, they want to be there. What does it feel like to do a swing-suit jump and to see the jump at the same time?" Haot said. "It's live TV, and it makes you feel part of it."

Livestream is currently holding a live demonstration of kite-surfing with the GoPro camera at Coney Island until 4 p.m. EST. GoPro fans can watch the demo below.
