NBCUniversal has released an app that provides Downton Abbey fans with the best quotes of the show.
The app, called Downtonisms, was created by The Project Factory and serves as a "soundboard app," playing quotes from 12 of the show's characters, such as Violet Crawley, the Dowager Countess of Grantham, according to The Guardian.
Downton Abbey has become the latest TV show to get its own companion app, with previous shows including Britain's Got Talent, X-Factor, The Voice, and Doctor Who, which has several apps like Doctor Who Encyclopedia and Doctor Who: Legacy.
"The nation's love affair with Downton Abbey shows no sign of stopping so we wanted to find a fun way for fans to interact with the show beyond the TV set in their living room," said Dominic Burns, spokesman for NBCUniversal.
Downton Abbey is one of British broadcaster ITV's most popular shows, bringing in almost nine million viewers every week, The Daily Mail reported.
Downtonisms provides over 160 quotes for users to share with one another. A quiz is also included for die-hard fans to test their knowledge of the show by guessing which character said which line.
"One of the beautiful things about Downton Abbey is the way comedic one-liners cut through the often tense drama with sharp wit and wonderful irreverence," Burns said. "Now fans of the show can hear an array of the best quotes from the past four series."
The app is the latest addition to Downton Abbey's merchandise, as the show has already inspired a range of wine, a line of beauty products from Marks & Spencer, and a board game that has been described as the "fast-moving game that transports you into the world of Downton Abbey," The Daily Mail reported.
Downton Abbey fans with iOS and Android devices can download Downtonisms now to listen to the show's best one-liners, including Crawley's famous line, "Vulgarity is no substitute for wit."
