‘Fifty Shades of Grey’ Author Focusing on New Novel—Movie Premieres on Valentine’s Day

Before E.L. James writes more about her "Fifty Shades of Grey" characters, she is reportedly creating new characters for a new book.

"Fans of E. L. James have been clamoring for news of her next books. The author of the "Fifty Shades of Grey" trilogy apparently is not just buying new ties with her excessive amount of royalties. She's been able to focus just on writing- and working on her new projects," reported Roger Friedman of showbiz411.

Sources say James will likely offer new adventures of the "Fifty Shades" characters eventually, but not right away. First up is a new novel with new characters, not Christian Grey or Anastasia Steele, the rambunctious lovers from the trilogy.

"She really wants to try something with new people, but still a romance," a source said. "And of course there will be some bondage."

That novel, still being written, won't be out before 2016.

"As for 'Fifty Shades,' the saga isn't over," Friedman said. "I'm told a fourth chapter isn't ruled out. And then there's a prequel cooking on a backburner. 'Everyone wants to hear more about Christian Grey's early years,' my source says."

The "Fifty Shades of Grey" movie is being developed by Universal Pictures in conjunction with Focus Features, and is currently scheduled to be released on Valentine's Day weekend on Friday, February 13, 2015, according to gottafilm.com.

The film is the hotly anticipated adaptation of the best-selling book that has become a global phenomenon. Since its release, the "Fifty Shades" trilogy has been translated in 52 languages worldwide, and has sold more than 90 million copies in e-book and print - making it one of the biggest and fastest-selling book series ever, fiftyshadesmovie.com revealed.

Stepping into the roles of Christian Grey and Anastasia Steele, who have become iconic to millions of readers, are Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson. Joining them in the cast are Luke Grimes as Christian's brother, Elliot; Victor Rasuk as Anastasia's close friend, José; and Jennifer Ehle as Anastasia's mother, Carla.

"Fifty Shades of Grey" is being directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and produced by Michael De Luca and Dana Brunetti, alongside E.L. James, the creator of the series.
