Ikea Motivational Mirror Compliments Those Passing By

Having a bad day? You may want to take a look at yourself in the interactive mirror at the Ikea store in Wembley, London that gives personalized compliments.

Unlike the mirror in "Snow White" with the evil queen, the Motivational Mirror only has positive comments.

The mirror uses the same motion sensor technology as the Xbox Kinect, allowing the mirror to read the user's facial and body features and offer a personalized compliment, reports Ubergizmo

"I was walking down the aisle, and this amazing mirror just whistled at me," one shopper tells Ubergizmo. "Great for me, I never get compliments. I could have stood there all day to be honest."

Ikea came up with the idea for the Motivational Mirror after observing that 49 percent of Britons don't receive a single compliment in a week, in a survey conducted by the retailer.

Through the survey they also found over 43 million people in the UK are self-critical about their appearance and 33 percent feel they look their worst before 9 a.m. on a Monday morning.

Ikea also programmed the Motivational Mirror to know what the top compliments people like to hear are, reports Adweek. Some of the top compliments (found through research) include "Your eyes are mesmerizing," "Have you been working out?" and "Your skin is glowing."
