Michael Caine is ready for retirement.
The 81-year-old star, who has acted in over 100 films, said he is considering retirement after completing the "Now You See Me" sequel. In an interview with Newsnight, Caine admitted that he has fulfilled all of his ambitions in the entertainment industry.
"I have no ambitions now... all I do is, I do films that I really want to do," the British actor said. "If I don't get a script - which I don't have - that entices me out, I'll be done in December when I do the last picture, the last script I've got. I always went into every movie with an aim. It was either to get an Oscar or make money, that's the two reasons I do movies. I've got two Oscars and I've got some money so I'm alright."
The actor has enjoyed decades of success in the film industry, and earned two Oscars for Best Actor in a Supporting role for 1987's "Hannah and Her Sisters" and 2000's "The Cider House Rules."
Caine will return to the big screen next year for the sequel to 2013's "Now You See Me," which will also star actor Daniel Radcliffe as his on-screen son.
"I've retired about 30 times and then I always get a script I can't refuse," he said. "Now I've retired sort of. I'm doing a second one of Now You See Me, a picture I did about magicians. I do that in December and then I stop. But then someone will give me a script," he mused.
Despite his retirement declaration, the actor admitted that he can never turn down a good script.
"I've probably retired now but I go home and there will be a great script and I think 'oh I'll do one more.' I look to see if it challenges me," Caine said at a charity night at the Royal Albert Hall to honor the actor's long career.
