St. Louis can advance to the NL championship series with a win on Tuesday. The Cardinals took a commanding 2-1 lead in the series on Monday after Kolten Wong's two-run homer in the bottom of the seventh. Cardinals starting pitcher John Lackey also played a big part in the 3-1 victory, giving up just one earned run on five-hit ball while fanning eight batters.

"I think there's definitely different energy, different adrenaline level (in the post season). And that can take you to special places when you use it the right way," Lackey said, via ESPN. "The atmosphere tonight was great. Fans were unbelievable. You feel that. You feed off that. If you channel it the right way, it can definitely help you out."

Shelby Miller (10-9, 3.74 ERA) starts Game 4 for St. Louis. Tuesday will be the first postseason start of his career.

"I know I'll be nervous, excited," Miller said. "I feel like it's an awesome opportunity to get to pitch in games like this. My whole life I've been excited and been waiting for this kind of opportunity. I think the biggest thing is just take it all in and just fight for my teammates."

He'll be opposed by Dodgers ace Clayton Kershaw, who's pitching on short rest after giving up eight earned runs in Friday's 10-9 loss.

"He's back to business, it's Clayton Kershaw," said Dodgers manager Don Mattingly. "You don't win four ERA titles and end up going to win three out of the last four Cy Youngs - could have won all four of them - just by anything goes bad, you just curl up and go away. These guys go to work, they come back. They keep working and they keep going."
