A mother got caught driving in a car with her 5-year-old daughter who wasn't in a booster seat. Instead of ticketing the woman, the police officer bought her a booster seat for her daughter at a nearby Wal-Mart.
"When I spoke to [mother Alexis DeLorenzo], she was very forthcoming and knew that the child should be in a booster seat," Officer Ben Hall told FOX 17 News. "She admitted that she was wrong and that she had recently fallen on hard times."
DeLorenzo's car was repossessed with her child's carseat inside and she didn't have enough money to buy a new one, FOX 17 reports. She was pulled over in Michigan while riding as a passanger in a friend's car.
Instead of ticketing the struggling mother, Hall instructed her to meet him at a local Wal-Mart where he bought her daughter a booster seat.
"It was the easiest 50 bucks I ever spent," Officer Hall tells FOX 17. "It's something that anybody in the same position, in our position, would do. I in no way, shape or form expect to be paid back. It is a 'pay it forward' situation completely."
DeLorenzo says the act of kindness changed her life and she hopes to be able to "pay if forward" to someone else in need as well when she gets back up on her feet.
