It's a bird. It's a plane. No, but it might be a UFO.
Breckenridge, CO police say reports of three mysterious objects in the sky have led to an investigation, 9 News reported on Saturday.
Multiple people called police to report three "shiny" objects floating in the sky. The Summit County Sheriff's Department joined the investigation as well. Witnesses reported seeing the objects form triangles or straight lines across the sky.
Police contacted the Federal Aviation Administration to see if they had received any calls regarding the possible UFO sighting, but they hadn't, according to News 10. A call to the North American Aerospace Defense Command didn't produce any additional information either, but the agency said they would look into the sighting.
"NORAD is not tracking any anomalies in that location. We are investigating," Army Major Beth Smith, a NORAD spokesperson said, according to the Examiner.
Matt Renoux, a KUSA reporter, said he didn't believe the spooky objects were drones or balloons, stating the "dots" appeared to stay in the same place for as long as 15 minutes at a time. Then suddenly, a flash of light appeared in the sky and the objects flew off across a mountain ridge.
The objects held a triangular pattern steadily for over an hour, according to a report filed with the National UFO Reporting Center.
A similar incident was also reported in Utah last week. At least one report described the objects as "3 bright white lights in a diagonal line" from Taylorsville. Another witness said the UFO was long, like a cigar, and traveled across the sky. Another said the objects flashed green, blue and white.
But the sighting was debunked as a bolide meteor by an astronomer named Patrick Wiggins. Bolide meteors flash colors similar to those described by the witnesses as it combusts near the end of its trip. Breakaway pieces of space rock would shower down on Earth once the meteor exploded in our atmosphere.
