'7th Heaven' Star Sarah Goldberg Dies in Her Sleep at Age 40 (VIDEO)

Actress Sarah Goldberg, who played Sarah Glass Camden on the family drama "7th Heaven," died on Sept. 27 at the age of 40.

Goldberg's death was confirmed by her mother, Judy Goldberg, who said that her daughter passed away peacefully in her sleep with her computer on her lap at the family cabin in Wisconsin, according to the Chicago Sun-Times.

"She went to sleep and didn't wake up," she told the site.

The actress, who was also known by her stage name, Sarah Danielle Madison, reportedly died of natural causes, but an autopsy failed to determine a cause of death. Goldberg's mother believes her daughter's death was caused by a heart ailment.

Goldberg attended Amherst College and earned a Bachelor's Degree in Biology. She received her big break in 2001's action sequel "Jurassic Park III," and had a recurring role on the CBS Drama "Judging Amy."

She is best known for her role as Sarah Glass Camden, a medical student and the love interest of the show's eldest son Matt Camden, played by actor Barry Watson. Goldberg starred on the family drama from 2002-2006.

"She would walk down the street here, or places in Wisconsin, and people would come up to her and say, 'You played the daughter' of the rabbi," Goldberg's mother said of her daughter's career. "She wanted to go to medical school, and instead for three years she played a doctor on 7th Heaven."

Goldberg appeared in several TV series, including "Without a Trace," "CSI: Crime Scene Investigation" and "House." Her movie credits include "My Best Friend's Wedding" and "Training Day."

The family is asking for contributions to the Sarah Goldberg Memorial Fund at PAWS.

Watson took to Twitter Tuesday to send his condolences and wrote, "#RIP Sarah. I will miss you always. Love Ya! B."

The news of Goldberg's death comes hours after her "7th Heaven" co-star Stephen Collins revealed that he is under investigation by police in New York after he confessed to molesting young girls on multiple occasions.

TMZ reportedly obtained a tape recording of Collins admitting to having sexual contact with children.
