Low-cost drones are on the rise with a new aircraft that can fit in your pocket.
This flying quadcopter, called the Anura Drone, was created by San Francisco-based company AeriCam to be slightly larger than an iPhone, specifically almost as big as a 4.7-inch iPhone 6, according to Gizmag.
The rotors of the drone can fold up so the owner has an easier time carrying it around. They fold upwards so the drone can function as a quadcopter and fly off.
Features of Anura include a built-in microcamera and Wi-Fi compatibility, which allows it to connect iOS and Android smartphones, Digital Trends reported. With the camera, owners can get a live aerial view on their smartphone.
Smartphones can be used as a remote control to fly Anura around in the air.
AeriCam said people will be able to fly the drone at 80 feet max, and that the aircraft will be able to stay in the air for close to 10 minutes on one charge, Gizmag reported. The drone will be able to fly at up to 25 miles per hour.
The company's crowdfunding campaign for the drone begins this month, and is aimed at giving AeriCam a chance to add more features to Anura, which include the ability to take off and land automatically, phone tracking, and a "return home" function. The goal is to get 500 backers for the campaign so that AeriCam can sell Anura for less than $200.
Anura is the latest of its kind, following the introduction of Toronto-based startup DreamQii's PlexiDrone, Digital Trends reported. Like Anura, this drone can fly, and owners can disassemble it to put it in their backpacks.
