New details about the rumored “X-Men” TV series have possibly surfaced claiming the show already has its lead mutant.
Film Divider report sources claim FOX has their eyes on Quicksilver to lead the series. In “X-Men: Days of Future Past”, Evan Peters’ Quicksilver scene where he helps Magneto break out of the Pentagon was a fan favorite.
Unfortunately, it is unclear if the show would recast Peters’ character for the series. FOX is also allegedly considering Jamie Madrox the Multiple Man to take on the show’s leading role.
However, FOX may also decide to go with a female-led series instead.
“Most recently, we’ve been told, there was some question of having a female lead for the show,” according to Film Divider. “That’s a good thing for a number of reasons. Firstly, any female-led show is not only good for redressing the balance, it would stand out on the schedules. Such shows are still an exception rather than 50% of the rule.”
Still, FOX has yet to confirm a live-action “X-Men” series is in development, but the studio is currently working on “X-Men: Apocalypse.”
Writer/producer Simon Kinberg recently spoke about the direction of the franchise to Collider. He explained “Apocalypse” will be the final chapter in the “First Class” trilogy.
“I will say that [‘X-Men: Apocalypse’] is definitely the close of a trilogy for those First Class characters, which isn’t to say we won’t see them in future movies, hopefully we will, but it’s a completion of an arc for them,” Kinberg said.
“X-Men: Apocalypse” is scheduled to hit theaters on May 18, 2016.
