A teen died legally drunk after his mom and her boyfriend put alcohol in his IV tube, according to a police report.
Issac Robitille, 13, was born with multiple disabilities. The teen's brain never fully developed and he had a nervous system disorder. After his diagnosis doctors predicted he wouldn't live past 6-moths-old, Melissa Robitille, Issac's mother, wrote on her blog.
She also descibes him on her blog as "a delightfully happy little boy, loves math, hugs, kisses, and his dog (her name is Tickle - he named her!), and hates physical therapy. He speaks mostly tactile ASL. He was medically fragile for a long time after he was born, so writing took a back burner for me, but I can't say that I regret it since I adore him and my skills as a writer have improved by leaps and bounds since 1999."
Melissa called 911 reporting that her son was dead on Aug. 22, according to The Associated Press reports.
During Issac's autopsy, the state medical examiner's office found that at the time of death his blood alcohol content was 0.146 percent - about twice the legal driving limit, reports AP.
Melissa and her boyfriend Walter Richter III are believed by police to have replaced an IV normally used for fluids and medications with liquor, reports NY Daily News.
Melissa and Richter were charged with second-degree murder yesterday.
