Gwyneth Paltrow Hires Former Martha Stewart Living CEO Lisa Gersh

Gwyneth Paltrow is taking a page from Martha Stewart.

Us Weekly reported that Paltrow hired Lisa Gersh, a former CEO and president of Martha Stewart Living Omnimedia and NBCUniversal, as new CEO for her lifestyle blog and e-commerce business, GOOP.

"Lisa is a visionary leader with unparalleled creativity and savvy," the actress said in a statement. "She's the perfect person to build on the momentum we have already created at goop and to diversify our opportunities to bring goop's positive energy directly to consumers in what they read, what they try, what they buy and how they live."

Gersh will be replacing former CEO Sebastian Bishop, who left in April. As CEO, she will collaborate with Stella McCartney and Diane von Furstenberg among others.

In a press release, Gersh shared her excitement to join Paltrow's company, saying, "As a fan since its launch, I've admired the inimitable voice and style Gwyneth has infused into Goop, and the business she's built. "

It's rare to work with such an inspired founder and a digitally native company, a brand that thinks digitally from an organic point-of-view and successfully fuses content and revenue-generating retail. I'm incredibly excited to work with Gwyneth and the goop team to play a role in this next stage."

Last month, Stewart bashed Paltrow's company saying that the "Iron Man" co-star should stick to acting. While speaking at Fortune's "Most Powerful Women Summit" Tuesday, the Oscar-winning actress responded to Stewart's diss.

"No one has ever said anything bad about me before, so I'm shocked and devastated," Paltrow jokingly said. "If I'm really honest, I'm so psyched that she sees us as competition. I really am."
