Liberty Mutual Insurance researched American cities that are the safest for pedestrians.
Seattle was number one on the insurance company's list out of 25 surveyed cities.
Liberty Mutual calls Seattle the safest because the city has the fewest pedestrian deaths and has invested infrastructure that residents say makes walking safer, according to a Bloomberg report on the survey.
"It's a combination of many things," Dave Melton, Liberty Mutual's managing director of global safety, tells Bloomberg. He explains that several factors such as infrastructure and education improvements were also taken into account.
When the insurance company surveyed people who live in Seattle, 96 percent reported that they feel safe walking in the city.
Pedestrians in Seattle are so safe that after the Seahawks won the Super Bowl in February, as some sports fans may remember, excited football fans poured from the stadium to the streets cheering while still obeying the no-jaywalking rule before crossing the street.
Runners up to Seattle in the survey were Boston and Washington, D.C.
