HTC, the renowned smartphone making company, has finally revealed the secret behind its Double Exposure event with two new product launches. After a series of leaks, rumors and teasers, the Taiwanese tech giant gave away the big news, Tuesday. As expected, both new launches emphasize the ultimate camera technology engineered by HTC. HTC Desire Eye highlights the extensive camera capabilities, especially that of its front facing shooter for impressive selfies. The specs are reasonable and will attract the mid-range buyers. The most intriguing feature of the Desire Eye is the dual 13-megapixel cameras with dual LED flash modules. This gives compelling end result for photos, videos and selfies, even in dark environments.
The overall design of the smartphone is streamlined with the HTC Desire series. HTC has handpicked the best features from its product line while building the Desire Eye. It features a high quality plastic unibody with dual color, a physical camera shutter button and a simple yet elegant design.
As for the smartphone's specs, it is powered using the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 2.3GHz quad-core processor, 2GB RAM and room for 16GB internal storage with expandable memory option. According to the company's official press release, HTC Desire Eye features several selfie enhancements within its 13MP front shooter, including Split Capture, Crop-Me-In, Voice Selfie, Photo Bhoot, Face Fusion and Live Makeup. The function of each camera feature is aligned with the name given to it. Split Camera captures photos and videos using both front and rear cameras and merges into one picture. Crop-Me-In is a similar feature, as it takes the image of the shooter and adds it to the full image. Voice Selfie responds to voice commands to capture a photo like "say cheese," or "smile."
Photo Booth is a unique feature that captures series of selfies and arranges them in rows, like in the usual photo booths. Face Fusion is yet another feature in the HTC Eye Experience, which replaces the face of a friend or a celeb with yours with the original look. Live Makeup is a real-time photo editing tool to enhance the quality of the image before capturing.
The final pricing and the release dates of the HTC Desire Eye were not revealed but the company said it will be shipped in the coming months. As Digital Trends reports, the Desire Eye will be available exclusively on AT&T for under $500, but it is yet to get a final confirmation from HTC.
