Pot shops that started popping up in states where marijuana is legalized are taking a new marketing approach.
During a recreational pot experiment in Colorado pot retailers are looking to attract new users - people who weren't using pot before the drug was legalized.
"For a long time, the medical market was a race to the strongest edibles. Now it's a new market, and people want something that won't get them so inebriated they're not functional," Holden Sproul of the Growing Kitchen in Colorado tells CBS News.
The store is offering "marijuana light" options with less than one serving size, according to Colorado state regulations.
Some "marijuana light" options include the Rookie Cookie and Dixie One Watermelon Soda.
"We still get people walking in here saying, 'What's the strongest thing?' But more and more they're asking about flavor, the experience, the whole nine yards," Tim Cullen, owner of two Denver-area marijuana dispensaries, tells CBS News.
He compares "marijuana light" products to weak alcoholic beverages. Just like someone new to drinking usually starts off with beer or wine instead of voldka or whiskey, those who are new to pot products have the option to start with "marijuana light."
