Chelsea Handler interviewed many reality stars on her "Chelsea Lately" program, and the idea of sitting down with one more drove Handler to end her E! late-night show.
"I had reality stars on all the time, and I hate reality television," Handler told Dave Grohl in a SiriusXM "Town Hall" interview.
The former E! talk-show host didn't hold back when Grohl asked her to name names, according to TooFab. One reality-star guest from her first year on the air really stuck with her.
"Tila Teq-uila, is that her name?" Handler asked. "You know the girl who passed out masterbating or something. She's gross."
The comedienne had to entertain many reality stars to please her E! audience. She also didn't have the credibility to attract bigger name guests when she first started, she told Grohl.
"It was E! and it was cheesy. Right then, I realized I had to take the show to a different level," Handler said. "I had to interview the Housewives, and I hate that s***."
Handler previously admitted she no longer cared for the numerous conversations about Justin Bieber's antics and the Kardashians' family drama on air. The only way to stop talking about it was to end her show and to "extricate" herself from that celebrity world.
"You end up getting so into the mix that it changes the topics of the day. You can sit around and complain about all that s*** and the Kardashians all day but if you're participating in it then what can you do?" Handler told the Daily Mail in June.
"It really didn't feel great doing the show and the only way to sort things out was to extricate myself from the entire situation."
Handler will next appear on Netflix in her stand-up special "Uganda Be Kidding Me," plus four other comedy specials next year.
