A Muslim father was getting ready to sacrifice a goat for the Eid-al-Adha festival on the roof of a building, before the animal jumped off the roof, killing his teenaged son.
The Eid-al-Adha (The Feast of the Sacrifice) festival required Muslims to sacrifice an animal in honor of the phrophet Abraham sacrificing his own son in an act of submission to God. The scripture says at the last second God replaced Abraham's son with a sheep, which is why in Muslim tradition each family slaughters a sheep or a goat on this day.
Mehmet, the father, brought the goat up to the roof of their building because it was too cramped to have the goat inside, reorts Daily Mail. The sacrificial goat leaped over the small fence that borders the rooftop, landing on Heval Yildirim's, 13, head while he was playing with his friends.
Mehmet rushed his son to the hospital, but he was pronnounced dead as soon as they arrived, according to Daily Mail reports. The goat didn't survive the accident either.
Upon investigation, a prosecuter announced the death unprecedented.
"Even the prosecutor has said this incident could be the first of its kind around the world," Mehmet tells Daily Mail.
