'Marvel Contest of Champions' Mobile Game Unveiled at New York Comic Con

It seems everything is coming up Marvel and the extended Marvel Universe these days. You can't go anywhere online without seeing a promo of some sort for the next Marvel tie-in product.

That being said, at New York Comic Con, "The House of Ideas" revealed the trailer for its upcoming mobile, superhero combat game, "Marvel Contest of Champions."

From the press release:

"'Marvel Contest of Champions' is an immersive, high-action, high-fidelity super hero combat game for mobile devices. Players fight their way through iconic locations from the Marvel Universe and collect their favorite Marvel super heroes and villains such as Iron Man, Captain America, Spider-Man and Thor to build their ultimate team of champions."

The storyline and character bios were penned by "Legendary Star-Lord" writer Sam Humphries. The game itself, which was made by well-known mobile developer Kabam, appears to be akin to DC's "Injustice" mobile game that was released a little over a year ago. It's a one-on-one fighting game, but the ability to actually move your characters by way of dashing back and forth adds a great deal to the overall strategy of a fight. There's also a bit more variety to the basic attacks you can dish out, and the special moves are also spectacular to behold, much like "Injustice."

"Marvel Contest of Champions" is due out on smartphones and tablets in December, according to Touch Arcade.
