Georgia has suspended star running back Todd Gurley indefinitely as an investigation for an alleged violation of NCAA rules begins, ESPN reported.
"I'm obviously very disappointed," Georgia coach Mark Richt said in a statement. "The important thing for our team is to turn all our attention toward preparation for Missouri."
Gurley is one of the leading candidates for the Heisman Trophy this season. He leads the SEC with 773 rushing yards and has scored eight touchdowns. The Bulldogs are currently ranked No. 13 in the nation.
Gurley, a junior, is averaging over 8 yards per carry and was ranked ninth in ESPN Insider Mel Kiper Jr.'s latest NFL Draft "Big Board" column that ranks top college football prospects.
Georgia ranks 13th overall in rush yards per game with 289. The Bulldogs have a tough matchup against No. 23 Missouri this Saturday.
