When you're hot, you're hot!
Superstar crooner Tony Bennett and pop star Lady Gaga just scored a chart-topping mega-hit with their "Cheek to Cheek" album-which debuted last week at No. 1. Now the pair of talented artists want more. They're planning a follow-up album to 'Cheek to Cheek,' have a TV special set for Oct. 24 and are performing a concert on New Year's Eve in Las Vegas. And they may be going on tour sometime after that.
Bennett spilled the news of sequel album and tour in a conversation he had with Roger Friedman of Show Biz 411. "When I congratulated Tony on the album's success, he replied, 'It's terrific. But wait til you hear the next one. Plus, we're going on tour soon. It's going to be amazing!' reports Friedman.
"Tony Bennett & Lady Gaga: Cheek to Cheek LIVE!" - featuring an evening of classic jazz standards in both vocal duets and solo performances - will air on THIRTEEN's Great Performances, Friday, Oct. 24 at 9 p.m. EST on PBS. The special was filmed in front of a live audience at New York's Lincoln Center.
Each song for the TV special was handpicked by Bennett and Lady Gaga, reports PBS. At press time, the song roster is scheduled to include "It Don't Mean a Thing (If It Ain't Got That Swing)," "Sophisticated Lady," "Lush Life," "Anything Goes," and the title track from their "Cheek To Cheek" album.
On Oct. 6, Lady Gaga announced on her official Facebook page that she will be performing a concert on New Year's Eve with Tony Bennett. The concert is set to take place in Las Vegas at The Cosmopolitan of Las Vegas' venue, The Chelsea.
Tickets go on sale to the general public beginning Oct. 10 at 10 a.m. PT. This is an all ages concert, and tickets start at $125 each. For this show, you can reserve a VIP table, but all those at the table must be at least 21-years-old. The duo will count down to the New Year during the performance, according to Examiner.
At the concert, the duo will be performing songs from "Cheek to Cheek." The album debuted at No. 1 on the U.S. Billboard 200 Albums chart. At the age of 88, Bennett is currently the oldest artist to debut at the top spot on the Billboard 200 Albums chart.
The lead single from the jazz album was their cover of Cole Porter's "Anything Goes", and the current single "I Can't Give You Anything but Love," adds Examiner.
And with all Bennett and Lady Gaga have going on together, could there be more? Maybe a movie?
"The Bennett-Gaga combo has done so well that Tony has suggested a movie project to the former meat dress wearer," adds Friedman.
