It was one of those truly fun, truly magical moments.
James Marsden - star of "X Men" and the upcoming film "The Best of Me" - crowded into a radio studio this week with Lady Antebellum and "American Idol" host Ryan Seacrest and proved that acting isn't Marsden's only talent, reports Taste of Country.
Marsden and Lady Antebellum were visiting On Air With Ryan Seacrest, a nationally-syndicated radio show, when the impromptu moment took place.
"James, I just know that you have this performance bug about you that we've got to expose to the world," said Seacrest before asking the actor to step to the mic, according to People.
"He's stage-starved," called out Lady A's Charles Kelley. "I love it!"
"I'm really nervous," said Marsden, just before he started crooning.
Although the actor was originally set to sing Lady Antebellum's smash "Need You Now," they settled for a Garth Brooks tune, since Marsden is a big fan!
In preparation, Marsden put on his headphones and Lady Antebellum's Dave Haywood strummed the guitar, then the actor hit the first few notes of Brooks' iconic tune "Friends in Low Places," reports Taste of Country. And Marsden was dead-on perfect with his vocals!
"Now I'm just pissed because he's better than me," joked Kelley, People noted.
The country trio - and even Seacrest himself - joined in on the fun and helped Marsden, who sang on screen in 2007's "Hairspray," with the chorus.
"It's an all-sing," Lady A's Hillary Scott declared.
Lady Antebellum have a song on the soundtrack for "The Best of Me." The film, based on the best-selling Nicholas Sparks novel, hits theaters on Oct. 17.
In addition, Lady Antebellum just released their new album, "747," which features their hit "Bartender" and latest single, "Freestyle."
