It is looking more and more like the iPhone 5s will be the next installment in the Apple smartphone series. Analysts say the iPhone 6 and a low-cost version of the iPhone will probably debut next year, according to TechRadar.com.
A release for the iPhone 5s could come as early as this month but many believe it is more likely to launch during the late third (or early fourth) quarter. If so, experts expect the release to be in either September or October, inciting a bit of competition against the Samsung Galaxy Note 3.
It is strongly believed Samsung will release the “phablet” during the IFA conference in Berlin, Germany. The conference is scheduled for September 6-11.
Another hint the 5s will be coming soon came in the form of a price drop for the iPhone 5 by Verizon Wireless.
Some sources say the production for the iPhone 5s began as early as March and the company is making a push for a fall release.
A document intended for workers at the Japanese-based KDDI hinted at a June 20 “sale announcement,” according to Apple Insider.
Others have mentioned a big reveal during the Worldwide Developers Conference. This would put the iPhone 5s launch just days away since WWDC is from June 10-14. However, the odds this comes to fruition are not very high.
An iPhone 5s release this year followed by an iPhone 6 release next year are in line with predictions from Peter Misek, an analyst at Jefferies. Misek said the company supply chain was currently geared more towards a 5s rather than a 6.
According to speculation, the iPhone 5s—or 6—is supposed to come with a better camera, a 1080p HD display and run on iOS7. The phone may also have the ability to automatically adjust the call volume based on how close the phone is to the user's ear.
