Lenovo and Ashton Kutcher unveiled a new media tablet, Yoga Tablet 2 Pro with built-in projector, sub-woofer and a striking design that redefines the tablet experience.
Lenovo, the renowned PC brand, launched three new devices in its popular Yoga series at an event in London on Thursday. The highlight of the event was Ashton Kutcher's major role in the development of one of the new products, the Yoga Tablet 2 Pro- the 36-year-old actor's first project as a product engineer at the Chinese computing firm. The multi-functional tablet serves several purposes, like turning a room into a cinema hall and carrying out PC operations on-the-go.
The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro features high-end specs and is a result of months-long process of working with engineers to map out the tablet's design and performance. In a phone interview with USA Today, Kutcher referred to the tablet as his "new baby." Being his first experience building a product, Kutcher feels he missed a few things that couldn't be added.
"I had a couple of things I wanted to add, but they didn't make the cut," Kutcher said. "That hurt, I confess. I won some battles and lost some. But that is the process." Kutcher, who played the iconic role of Steve Jobs last year in the movie "Jobs", studied biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa but did not graduate. His interest in technology has resulted in constant tech investments.
"I love building things," he said. "This was a magical, wonderful experience."
As for the tablet's specs, the Yoga tablet 2 Pro features a 13-inch screen with a quad-HD 2,560 x 1,440 resolution. It sports an 8-megapixel camera and is powered by the latest fourth generation Intel Atom processor. Featuring a 32GB built-in storage, the tablet supports microSD expansion up to 64GB and a battery that keeps running for 15 hours on a single charge, Lenovo said in the company's official press release, Thursday.
The Yoga Tablet 2 Pro stands out in the crowd with its exceptional features. It includes a Pico projector that can beam a 16:9 high resolution image on any surface to create a 50-inch theater experience. Thanks to the front facing dual, large-chamber speakers and a subwoofer on the back, users can get the cinema experience in the comfort of their homes.
The tablet will hit the stores later this month with a suggested price tag of $499.99.
