Nicholas Hoult: ‘It’s a Shame’ Jennifer Lawrence’s Nude Photos Were Leaked

Nicholas Hoult is weighing in on the nude photo hacking scandal. The actor recently did an appearance on "Good Day New York" to promote his new movie "Young Ones" when he was asked his thoughts about naked photos of his ex-girlfriend, Jennifer Lawrence, being leaked online.

At the end of August, tons of private photos of the 24-year-old actress were dumped in a thread on 4chan. Lawrence was the first of many female celebrities targeted by the hacker.

Hoult, who split from Lawrence at the beginning of August, told host Rosanna Scotto that he thought it was "a shame" the pictures were posted online for everyone to see.

"It's shocking that things like that happen in the world," he said.

Lawrence also commented on the hack during a recent interview with Vanity Fair. "The Hunger Games" actress said she was worried the leak would hurt her career and she tried several times to release a statement but was too emotional.

"I started to write an apology, but I don't have anything to say I'm sorry for. I was in a loving, healthy, great relationship for four years. It was long distance, and either your boyfriend is going to look at porn or he's going to look at you," she said.

"Just because I'm a public figure, just because I'm an actress, does not mean that I asked for this," Lawrence continued. "It does not mean that it comes with the territory. It's my body, and it should be my choice, and the fact that it is not my choice is absolutely disgusting. I can't believe that we even live in that kind of world."

The Hollywood actress also addressed the legal ramifications of the hack. Shortly after her photos appeared online, Lawrence's lawyer released a statement and said the FBI had been contacted.

"It's not a scandal. It's a sex crime," she told the magazine. "It is a sexual violation. It's disgusting. The law needs to be changed, and we need to change. That's why these Web sites are responsible. Just the fact that somebody can be sexually exploited and violated, and the first thought that crosses somebody's mind is to make a profit from it. It's so beyond me. I just imagine being that detached from humanity. I can't imagine being that thoughtless and careless and so empty inside."
