The introduction of high-tech keyboards continues with the unveiling of Goji, an app that uses emojis to provide the best spots for activities.
The keyboard, The Last Guide Company's first product, provides 48 different emojis, or "gojis," as recommendations for what to eat and drink, according to The Verge. These gojis include pizza, coffee, and sushi for food and drinks, and the beach, a bowling ball and other images for activities.
The Last Guide Company was founded by Josh Williams, who previous founded check-ins service Foursquare before leaving the company in 2013. Foursquare was bought by Facebook in 2011.
Users can get suggestions for venues in town by clicking the images on the screen, TechCrunch reported. They can then text the location(s) to friends as well as share them on Facebook, Twitter, and other social networks. The recipient will get the suggestion, such as "Beer?" or "Coffee?" and a link that provides more information about the spot.
Goji suggests activities for people to do based on the time of day and where the user is at the time.
The app only presents three ideas for activities so users get the best products and venues for that moment, The Verge reported.
"We want to reduce the paradox of choice," Williams said. "For me, finding places or things to do has always leaned heavily on recommendations from people that I really trust, or just context in general."
While Goji is currently only available New York City, Portland, Los Angeles, and San Francisco, Last is looking to make the app available in more cities in the future.
