Former MMA star Jason "Mayhem" Miller was arrested and taken into custody Thursday afternoon after having a standoff with Orange County police.
The standoff was nonviolent, and resulted from department officers trying to serve Miller an arrest warrant on previous charges of domestic violence, stalking and criminal contempt, according to ESPN.
Police approached the 33-year-old retired fighter outside of his residence at 26262 Ave. Calidad in Mission Viejo, California, before he "retreated inside the location" at around 12:50 p.m. ET. Miller also tweeted the standoff live from his personal account, writing at one point "just (sic) don't let them shoot me." Miller currently has 222,000 followers.
The standoff ended at 5:13 p.m. ET, when The Orange County Sheriff's Department reported on Twitter that Miller surrendered to police in the back of the residence by lying on the ground with his hands exposed after a "remote front door breach," ESPN reported. The incident received responses from SWAT and Crisis Negotiations team members, and led to Miller being charged with obstructing/delaying a peace officer.
There were no known involved hostages in the standoff, and there were no injuries reported from the incident.
Authorities are holding Miller on $200,000 bail, and he is scheduled to appear in court on Oct. 14, according to ESPN.
The former fighter made 38 posts, including retweets and replies, throughout the standoff, with one post reading "ol dirty bastard is gone, it is mayhem miller now."
Mayhem's past encounters with police include being arrested in 2012 on misdemeanor vandalism charges after being found by police naked in a church in Orange County, as well as being charged with domestic violence in August 2013.
Miller holds a 23-9 record in MMA, and has competed in numerous promotions, such as the UFC, Strikeforce and DREAM. His work outside of MMA includes hosting MTV's "Bully Beatdown" and appearing in the 2012 film "Here Comes the Boom."
