A Wisconsin couple was busted for having sex in the back of a police car, just moments after they were arrested for drunk driving, law enforcement said.
An Oconto County deputy stopped 29-year-old Heather Basten and Travis Husnik, 33, after noticing their vehicle was swerving into oncoming traffic on Aug. 3, The Smoking Gun reported Wednesday.
Two open cans of beer were found inside the vehicle. Husnik said one was his and the other belonged to Basten, who was driving the car without a license. The two were cuffed and placed in the back of a police cruiser.
On the way to the Oconto County Jail, Deputy Adam Zahn "observed Travis lay onto Heather in the backseat," according to a criminal complaint obtained by TSG.
Next he saw "Heather's legs go up touching the ceiling and heard her begin to moan loudly."
Zahn pulled the car over and opened the back door to find the couple engaging in sexual intercourse. Both of their private parts were in full view.
A County Circuit Court judge expressed disbelief at what the defendants ended up doing in the back of a law enforcement vehicle, the Green Bay Press Gazette reported.
"The process of being arrested is supposed to be somewhat unpleasant...and you end up having a tryst," Judge Jay Conley said during Husnik's sentencing. "Incredible."
Husnik, who has 19 previous convictions, was charged with lewd and lascivious behavior and disorderly conduct. He was sentenced to 90 days in jail and has to pay nearly $400 in fines.
Basten faced the same charges and pleaded guilty to driving while intoxicated. She was sentenced to 48 days in custody, in addition to several fines totaling more than $1200.
