Former world boxing champion Holly Holm is set to make her debut in the UFC against Raquel Pennington at UFC 181.
The 32-year-old fighter made her MMA debut in 2011 after making a name for herself in women's boxing, holding a 33-2-3 record in the sport, according to UFC.com. She is currently undefeated in MMA, winning six out of her seven fights via knockout.
Holm signed with the UFC in July, and plans to make history in her fight with Pennington.
"When I first started doing MMA, people asked me what my goal was in this, and my goal is to be the first female that has titles in both MMA and boxing because nobody's done that," she said after signing her contract. "And it's totally doable, and that's my plan."
Pennington currently holds a 4-4 record in MMA, winning her first fight against veteran Roxanne Modafferi, MMA Fighting reported. The 26-year-old fighter is also a former semi-finalist of the 18th season of The Ultimate Fighter.
Holm vs. Pennington is among the eight fights that will be held at UFC 181 on Dec. 6th in Las Vegas, Nev. These bouts include Welterweight champion Johny Hendricks defending his title against Robbie Lawler, Lightweight champion Anthony Pettis defending against Gilbert Melendez and Travis Browne taking on Brendan Schaub.
