"American Idol" alum Bucky Covington has a new American idol of his own: his new baby daughter!
Now a successful country music star, Covington welcomed his first child with fiancée Katherine Cook on Oct. 10 in Nashville, reports People. Kennedy Taylor Covington was born weighing 6 lbs., 12 oz., and measured 18 inches long.
Both the new mama and babe "are doing well and resting comfortably following this morning's delivery," his rep says in a statement, adding the "first-time father is ecstatic" over the birth of his baby girl.
"We are beyond excited to start our life as a family and can't wait to see what adventures this little blessing has in store for us," the proud new dad tells People.
"The nursery is done, the bags were packed and I Googled how to get to the hospital. This parenthood thing is pretty easy so far!"
Covington met his Cook back in 2007 and then popped the question three years later in 2010. They announced the pregnancy earlier this year, according to Taste of Country. They've been engaged for a while and probably dreamed about one day having children, but Covington was still confused upon seeing not one, but three positive pregnancy tests. He didn't even know what they were!
"The only problem was I didn't know what they were! I was like, 'What is this? Are you okay?'" he said previously. "So she told me and I got so excited!"
Covington's self-titled debut CD opened at No. 1 on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart with the biggest first week sales for any debut country artist that year. He went on to become the best selling debut artist of 2007 and delivered three consecutive Top 10 hit singles to country radio.
He recently released "Buzzin'," his first single as an independent artist, and is currently in the studio working on new music and co-producing an upcoming project alongside Grammy-nominated producer, Dale Oliver.
