Toddler Had .29 Blood Alcohol Level After Parents Gave Him Mixed Drink

A 2-year-old child in Georgia nearly died after his parents gave him a full cup of Coke mixed with 40 proof brandy, The New York Daily News reported on Saturday.

Police arrested William Chester Hickson and Jasmin Briana Moore for child cruelty after their son, whose name has not been released, stopped breathing after he drank the alcoholic beverage. He was rushed to the emergency room when his parents realized how ill he was.

Doctors at the hospital tested the child's blood alcohol level and found that it was 0.29, more than three times the United States federal driving limit of 0.08.

The parents made the child a cocktail out of Paul Masson Brandy and Coca-Cola on Oct. 4. He drank it until he became unconscious. According to legal documents, Moore and Hickson allowed the child to drink the cocktail in their presence and knowingly put alcohol in it, The Atlanta Journal - Constitution reported.

Moore was arrested a day after Hickson, and both were charged with child cruelty in the first degree. A $75,000 bond has been placed on them both and they remain in Cobb County jail.
