The death of a teen playing a zombie in a seasonal haunted corn maze was not part of the Halloween act.
Jeremy T. McSpadden Jr., 18, was actually slain by the "Zombie Slayer Paintball Bus." At first, it appeared to be a really realistic zombie death to scare the audience, but it was in fact very real, according to Reuters.
McSpadden ran towards the bus from his hiding spot in the maze, when the bus started rolling forward due to the uneven ground it was parked on, reports Reuters. The bus ran over the teen, who apparently died instantly.
"Everyone just thought it was part of the act," Sgt. Ward Crawford, a traffic team supervisor with the Kootenai County Sheriff's Office in Idaho, tells Reuters.
This was the first time the zombie attraction ever appeared at this corn maze in Idaho, where participants pay to shoot paintballs at zombies.
All attractions at the maze closed for the rest of the weekend to allow for an investigation into McSpadden's death.
