Dick's Sporting Goods CEO Responds to 12-Year-Old Girl's Criticism of Gender Exclusive Catalog (TWEETS)

Ed Stack, the CEO of DICK's Sporting Goods, admitted the company "clearly messed up" following the complaints of a 12-year-old girl who was upset that their basketball catalog did not feature any female athletes.

"I'm sorry," Stack wrote. "We clearly messed up and I can personally guarantee that next year's basketball catalog will prominently feature female athletes, as it should have this year."

McKenna Peterson wrote a viral letter to Stack last week complaining about the lack of female athletes in Dick's Sporting Good's basketball catalog. Peterson pointed out that the only girl featured in the catalog was sitting in the stands.

Stack sent his response via Twitter to McKenna's father, Chris Peterson.

McKenna read Stack's letter over the weekend.

"I would just like to say thank you," she told ABC News.

McKenna believes gender equality is important, especially in sports, "Because I think girls should be treated just as equally as boys."
