Obama Only Became U.S. President Because Country Is More Sexist Than Racist, Alec Baldwin Claims (WATCH)

Hollywood actor Alec Baldwin and outspoken British comedian Russell Brand came together in a "transatlantic meeting of minds" on RT's "The Kaiser Report" to discuss the governments of the United Kingdom and United States, with Baldwin offering his diagnosis on American politics, Breitbart reported.

"In the U.S., people are so disenfranchised with democracy. They have no political power. The government gets elected and says we're going to do whatever we're going to do. They've transferred that Roman Coliseum connection to the tabloid media through thumbs up and thumbs down to public figures that has no political efficacy," Baldwin stated.

As the 56-year-old "30 Rock" actor attacked the country's ruling class for a sense of disenfranchisement across the U.S., Brand intervened to point out President Barack Obama's race. However, Baldwin claimed the president's election had more to do with the Americans being sexist rather than being racist, according to RT.

"America is a country run by white Christian men. It has been for 75 or 100 years," Baldwin stated.

"The president is a black Muslim," Brand immediately pointed out.

"That's now - that's now. And he's only president because he ran against a woman for the nomination," Baldwin said.

"So we prefer black over woman?" Brand questioned.

"No, no my friend said that in America - sexism and racism, its close but actually one has the advantage. My friend said to me, 'Men have been suspicious of women a lot longer than white people have been suspicious of black people.'" Baldwin responded.

Apart from talking about the problems of global capitalism and the gradual dilution of democracy and people power, Baldwin interrupted Brand from taking digs at Fox News Channel and FNC hosts, including Sean Hannity, claiming it wouldn't affect the largely popular hosts even if they repeatedly criticized their actions.

"Personalizing and demonizing those people, which I've done my share of - I've spit in [Sean] Hannity's face many, many times - but that really does us no good," Baldwin said. "You realize these people have a huge audience. Why do they have a huge audience? That market, that conservative - that disenfranchised, what they believe is disenfranchised whit market in America - they need someone to blame and that's where these guys step up."
