Virgil Zwicker Stepping in For James Thompson to Fight Houston Alexander at Bellator 129

Bellator MMA officials announced Sunday that Virgil Zwicker will co-headline Bellator 129 with Houston Alexander as the replacement for the injured James Thompson.

The rescheduled bout will put Zwicker and Alexander against each other in a 215-pound catchweight fight, according to MMAjunkie.

Thirty two-year-old Zwicker currently holds a 12-4 record in MMA, having won nine of his fights with knockouts.

The Strikeforce veteran is 1-1 in his time in Bellator, winning his first fight with Nick Moghadden with a TKO in the first round and losing to Linton Vassell via submission afterwards, MMA Fighting reported.

Alexander holds a 16-10-2 record in MMA, having competed briefly in the UFC where he beat Keith Jardine and Alessio Sakara back-to-back before losing four fights in a row. The 42-year-old fighter won three of his last four fights, ending all of them with a KO/TKO.

Bellator 129 will be held on Friday at Mid-American Center in Council Bluffs, La., MMAjunkie reported. MMA fans will be able to watch the preliminary fights on Spike.com at 7 p.m. ET and the main card on Spike TV at 9 p.m., ET.

In addition to Zwicker vs. Alexander, the main card will also feature Paul Bradley taking on Josh Neer, Andre Santos fighting James Terry, and David Clark fighting Joe Vedepo. The prelims include John DeVall vs. Chris Lane, Tim Bazer vs. Eric Howser, Michael McBride vs. an opponent to be announced, Martin Brown vs. Bryan Corley, Jozette Cotton vs. Holly Lawson, Brian Green vs. Anthony Smith, Marcos Marquez vs. Victor Moreno, and Mike Estus vs. Ryan Shell.
