Google announced Monday that its Shopping Express service will be available in more cities besides New York and Los Angeles.
The three new cities that will be receiving the newly-named Google Express are Boston, Washington, D.C., and Chicago, and the search giant is adding Barnes & Noble, PetSmart, Vitamin Shoppe, Sports Authority and other retailers to the service, according to CNET.
Google Express is facing several competitors in the same-day delivery department, including Amazon, which Google's Eric Schimdt said is the biggest threat. However, Google Shopping vice president Sameer Samat said that the company has good relationships with Amazon and Alibaba.
"We have really good partnerships with both of these companies," Samat said. "They are advertising customers of Google. I don't think we really look at it from the standpoint of rivalry. We have different ways of addressing consumers' needs and it's good to have lots of choice."
Google Express allows customers to place orders for groceries and other items from local stores and have them delivered to their residence whenever they want, The Next Web reported. The service now comes with an Express Membership that costs $95 per year, or $10 per month.
Customers also have the option of having their items delivered to them $4.99 for each order. However, this option comes with an additional $3 fee for alcohol.
Google said the expansion now makes Express available to over 7 million people, CNET reported.
The company has a great deal of confidence in the service, with Samat saying it has "been adding additional well-known national and regional retail partners that represent different areas of consumer need. That gives the consumer wider choice, wider selection."
