St. Louis bounced back from being shut out in Game 1 with a resounding 5-4 win on Sunday. Cardinals second baseman Kolten Wong's solo homerun in the ninth inning evened the series, helping to overcome the loss of catcher Yadier Molina.

"We'll wait and see and right now we'll just go ahead and keep celebrating a very tough, hard-fought win," Cardinals manager Mike Matheny said, via ESPN. "I am real proud at how these guys kept coming."

Matheny admitted the strained oblique Molina suffered "didn't look real good," leading the possibility St. Louis could be without the veteran for at least one or two games.

As for Wong's homer, the infielder said it was just about grinding out a win.

"We just knew we had to keep grinding," he said. "When you lose someone like Yadi, it's definitely tough for us, but we told ourselves we've been going through this all year. Grinding up and down, not getting any easy pass, so we're all so confident."

John Lackey starts on Tuesday for the Cardinals. His last start came Oct. 6 against the Los Angeles Dodgers, whom he allowed just one run while fanning eight batters over seven innings.

He'll be opposed by Giants veteran Tim Hudson, who admitted it would be nice not to have to go against Molina.

"That would be a pretty big blow for them, not only from an offensive standpoint but from a defensive standpoint how he handles those pitchers," said Hudson, who wished Molina no ill will. "But it wouldn't hurt my feelings if he's not in the lineup for a few days, there's no question about that."

Hudson is coming off Saturday's 2-1 win against Washington, whom he also allowed just one earned run while striking out eight batters in 7 1/3 innings.
