Taylor Swift is well known for turning events in her real life into hit songs - especially when it comes to guys who do her wrong. She's had many chart-topping songs about ex-boyfriends. One Direction singer Harry Styles is reportedly the subject of Swift's "I Knew You Were Trouble" - a song she wrote about a young heartbreaker.
Now, along comes Monty Python alum John Cleese. The comedic actor and the superstar songstress crossed paths the other day on the BBC's "Graham Norton Show."
As the two were being interviewed by Norton, Cleese reacted to a photo of Swift's Scottish Fold feline, a breed notable for ears that are bent forward and down. Apparently the unusual cat named Olivia Benson - after the "Law & Order: SVU" detective - struck Cleese as more odd than endearing, reports The Wrap.
"How did it have the accident?" Cleese asked Swift when he saw the photo. "Is that proper cat?"
At first Taylor seemed surprised and was like ... nuh uh, you didn't just go there!
Then the comedy icon took it up a notch and said it was "the weirdest cat he'd ever seen," according to Nashville Gab.
Yikes!
Norton, the ever-gallant host, rushed to Swift's defense, declaring, "John Cleese! You cannot say that is the weirdest cat you've ever seen in your life!," but things got combative between the two from there - although it was all in good fun - and the "Shake It Off" singer did just that.
However, if on Swift's next album there is a song about a wacky old geezer who likes to insult cat owners, just remember her encounter with John Cleese.
While Swift's appearance on the "Graham Norton Show" won't air in the U.S. until Oct. 18, you can get a sneak peek of the entire catty incident right here:
