The Miami Dolphins placed running back Knowshon Moreno on injured reserve today due to a season-ending knee injury, Yahoo! Sports reports. Moreno injured his ACL during Miami's loss to the Green Bay Packers on Sunday. The Dolphins signed Moreno to a one-year contract worth $3.275 million in free agency.
Moreno's injury bumps up the value of Lamar Miller, who was enjoying a solid season so far with a 5.2 yards per carry average. Miller has rushed for 330 yards and three touchdowns while also catching 15 balls and one touchdown through five games this season.
Miller is currently averaging just under 17 total touches a game (remember, Moreno missed two games with an elbow injury). That number should rise to around the 20-mark for the rest of the season. While Miller has been solid in his three year career, he has yet to truly breakout in a big way. The increased workload coming his way could provide the former Hurricane with the opportunity to do just that.
Rookie running back Damien Williams out of Oklahoma will back up Miller.
