Two physics graduates from London sent the very first burger and chips up to space on a balloon, recording their travels, because they felt like it.
The video of the fast food's traveling over 112,000-feet into the stratosphere is going viral, receiving over 110,000 views on YouTube. Andy Shovel and Pete Sharman, who both have backgrounds in physics, created the video.
"We sent a burger and chips into space. For no good reason," the video description reads.
The men spent 2,000 pounds ($3,182) on the experiment that took three tries before being successful.
To perform the experiment, the men used a balloon the size of a two-bedroom house, helium, a GPS transponder, hand warmers, a camera, a parachute, duct-tape, and some string.
The balloon expanded to its maximum capacity when it reached eight-meters (over 26-feet) in height. The balloon exploded, and according to the video, the burger was found about 32-miles from the launching site.
