Emma Stone will perform for tens of thousands in her three months on Broadway, but Stone still has some reservations about performing in front of one particular audience member: her good friend Taylor Swift.
Stone won't have to worry about her character Sally Bowles in "Cabaret" attaining the same level of superstardom as Swift.
"Sally's not the most famous or the most talented musical star on the planet," Stone told MTV News, comparing her character to the Grammy-winning recording artist.
Stone will make her Broadway debut on Nov. 11 and replaces Michelle Williams as the Kit Kat Klub headliner. She will perform through the holiday season alongside Alan Cumming, playing The Emcee, and take her final bow on Feb. 1, 2015.
"The Amazing Spider-Man" star cited her work in the upcoming film "Birdman" as good preparation for her stage debut. Stone plays Michael Keaton's daughter and the movie includes many continuous, tracking shots that required the actors to perform the scenes like they were in a play.
"Making this movie, and what we had to contend with as actors... needing to rely on each other the way that a company does, is incredibly helpful now going into theater," Stone said during a press conference at the New York Film Festival on Oct. 11. "We all operated as a unit, and on a lot of films it's not that way at all. It's a very separate experience."
The Roundabout Theater Company reportedly pursued Stone originally for the role of Sally, but scheduling conflicts got in the way. The actress said she's "nervous as hell" for her performance, but the boundaries she pushed in "Birdman" have her wanted to do more.
"It does fuel the wanting to do something as scary as a musical eight times a week," she told MTV News.
"Birdman" opens in theaters on Oct. 17.
