"Minecraft" modder "Killerx20" spent two years faithfully recreating every aspect of the "Final Fantasy VII" city Midgar in the game "Minecraft," according to Kotaku.
His replica was recently unleashed upon both "Minecraft" and "Final Fantasy" aficionados alike, and it's a massive piece of work. The city itself consists of 1290×1290 blocks.
"Killerx20" had this to say about his vast creation:
"As a lot are probably wondering, yes, more than 85 percent of this build WAS indeed hand placed. The only things that were not are the outer plates, tower, and reactors BUT that doesn't mean they were completed when imported, they were basically detail-less empty shells and I wanted it that way so everything on/inside them had to be hand placed for optimal detail."
I'm not a huge fan of "Minecraft" myself; it's essentially digital LEGOs, and I was never into LEGOs all that much. But, I have watched my kids play/build with game, so I understand its draw and what dedication it takes to make something of this scope. Regardless, I'm not sure whether I should be impressed, or tell this person to get a life...
