New Zealand Store For Teens Features Mannequins With Visible Rib Cages

A clothing store for teens in New Zealand is getting scrutinized for their mannequins with protruding rib cages.

The issue came to light after shopper Emily Robins tweeted a photo of the mannequin at the store Glassons.

Glassons responded to Robins' tweet saying their visual merchandising team were investigating the issue on Oct. 9.

On Monday Yahoo Style reported that the company said they have no plans to remove the mannequins.

"I'm saying that 'gosh, this is so ugly, this body type,' because there are girls out there that look this way," Robins tells RadioLIVE. "The reality is it is not an accurate representation of most women."

Glassons was not the first store to receive backlash from a skinny mannequin.

A La Perla boutique, which sells lingerie, removed their mannequins with protruding ribs after entrepreneur Michael Rudoy exposed the boutique with a picture of the mannequin on Twitter, reports Yahoo Style.
